The Behavioral Health Forensic Evaluation Center

The Behavioral Health Forensic Evaluation Center (BHFEC) is charged with providing a comprehensive range of evaluation services that address the psychiatric and psychological needs of individuals referred by Philadelphia Family Court. PMHCC establishes part-time consulting contracts for qualified psychiatrists and psychologists to perform evaluations. An individual’s involvement with Family Court represents a critical time in his/her life. Evaluations involve cases from both the dependent and delinquent court streams, address the mental health treatment needs of referred individuals, and provided helpful information and recommendations to the court. The BHFEC also serves as a training site for doctoral students in psychology.

The BHFEC is supported by Community Behavioral Health (CBH), a major program of the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBH/IDS), the Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS), and PMHCC, Inc. Evaluations are assigned, scheduled, and reimbursed based on a fee schedule which reflects the complexity of presenting issues and the credentials of the evaluator. Contracted evaluators are provided with specific outlines and expectations for the structure and format for each type of evaluation.
